Spring - Winter

It's been a crazy 2 weeks.. it looked as though Spring was upon us and them BOOM! it was winter wonderland.

Here's two cute outfits.. one for the Spring part of last week and one for the BOOM! Winter part.

This dress was a tricky one.. I bought it from ASOS.com over the winter holidays because they had free delivery (woo!) but when it got here it was really hard to work. I think you have to be super skinny or super pretty to work the dress just as it is, but as I am neither of those things, I added a white lace print t-shirt underneath, and of course my favourite belt.

The next is not as chic I'm afraid, but it was cute and - more importantly- warm.

I bought the skirt for a bargainous (yes, it's a word..) ¥990 at Uniqlo. The sweater was less thrifty at ¥4000, but it's really versatile and very warm.

I'm really loving the kind of Nordic look with big moose prints and thick woolen tights this season. It'll almost be a shame when we have to start wearing warmer stuff haha.. ;-)

It took a whole year for me to finally post my boarding wear.

They are nothing spectacular. The ski pants are from 2nd Street and were only 1300 yen. They are a bit big around the waist and have a zip on extention on the top but I took it off because it felt silly.

The jacket is Burton and its duper warm with a teddy bear lining on the inside. And of course to look good when you are falling down the mountain, you will need awesome goggles and a face mask so your nose doesn't fall off from frost bite.

I am proud to say that I didn't buy any clothes for myself when I went home over Christmas, unlike last year...

So when the sales came on in Japan, I couldn't resist and bought myself some clothing to make Winter a bit more enjoyable. After all, Winter is going to suck either way so I might as well suck it up in nice clothes.

The necklace came with the white dress.

My favourite coat this Winter is this camel cape.

Camel is the colour this season and it goes really well with red. <3
The sleave/non-sleave is kinda weird and I take down everything that I walk past because I can't comprehend how big my sleaves are but oh well.

I'm still 50/50 with this dress. Not my absolute fave but I like the neckline and I think it will grow on me.

I am totally infatuated with this dumb sweater. I got it on sale at Zara. It's super thick, adds at least ten pounds, and somehow manages to keep cold air out. I love the elbow patches - they somehow give it so much personality.

The boots are new too. ¥1000 on sale at Asbee. Now's the time to go chasing some last minute purchases; the markdowns are epic.

So here's an outfit from a day when I cared about what I wore haha. That day I was to teach a few classes alone so I wanted to be a little more formal than normal.

Enter my new gray Uniqlo jacket. Bought on a trip to Nagoya for only ¥1500, it's the perfect thing to turn an otherwise cutesy outfit into a "roar I mean business!!!" outfit. Kinda...

The blouse is from home, and the culottes are from the local shopping center here. It was one of those things that I saw in my size so automatically had to buy them haha.

Since there is an accessories theme right now, I thought I'd chip in with some of my favourites. I get most of mine from Forever21.co.jp - the elephant (my recent favourtie), the pink flowered one on the right and the giraffe are all from there. I love animal themed jewelry.. can you tell? The red beaded one at the top is from Accessorize in Harajuku (a British brand- used to be sold online here but they took the shop down), and the purple and green flowered one was a gift for my birthday from my mum.

A reason why I hate winters...

Okay so apart from the obvious reasons like it's cold and gets darker earlier.

No I am talking about the fact that it makes my nails get brittle and prone to chips/breaking off.

This summer I really got into nail art, I'd paint my nails every week and do a cool pattern on them. I started to purposely grow my nails out just for this, and after about 2 months or so I had lovely long nails.

This picture was taken just after I went back to uni, when the nails on my other hand started to break and I realised I wouldn't have long nails for much longer. They're probably a bit longer than i'd like to keep them but I think I was just happy they were growing so much. And just to add, I don't do fake nails. So this is how they are now, after a few months of cold weather.

Totally lame.

My friends thought it was cute when I got a Blair Waldorf inspired headband with a bow. Small, considered classy by some and relatively easy on the eyes. Little did they know it was the gateway bow to bigger and more extreme bow headbands

The "Gateway" Bow Headband

I love this headband. Even the bow has clean lines and it's relatively unobtrusive. An all-purpose bow headband.

The "Night Out" Bow Headband

A second-hand store find, this bow represents the step up in bow headbands, a "night-out" bow headband. The sequins and puffier bow make this a cute option for going on but slightly inappropriate for work. I've come to love the size and shape of the bow on this one. My current favorite.

The "Secondhand Sailor" Bow Headband

I picked up this bow headband as a joke. I like the nautical print silk-like fabric but the shape of the bow is just stupid. That's nothing to say of its size.

The "I've Lost Control of My Obsession" Bow Headband

This is the official 'I know I have a problem with bow headbands' bow headband. I've been alternately told that it "suits me" and that I look like a "Christmas present" wearing it. I've only worn in in public drunkenly (once) and doing Christmas carols (once) but I like being able to say that something to absurd is part of my collection.

Due to the lack of a decent full length mirror, I had to resort to using the DP fitting room (better than the Office toilets) I had an interview at Céline today but after asking the interviewer for more info on the role I'm pretty sure I dont want it. Shame really, as the interview seemed to go well... meh.

My blouse is from TM lewin, it has ALOT going on... but I like it.

My shoes that allow me to run for trains with ease. they're from Risky, only 3 quid, so the crooked bows don't phase me.

These are the boots I wore from station to interview and back again. My tights are from La Perla and the skirt is some stretchy thing I bought in C&A many, many moons ago. I think it was originally my school skirt...

So now I'm sitting and hoping my outfit scared them off so they wont call me.

This was on sale at Wohl's discount-designer-warehouse store in a mall at Potsdamer Platz for €69,95 and I just had to. It is easily the warmest winter jacket I've ever owned, damned impenetrable to chilly winds. The skirt (H&M), striped gloves (H&M) and black boots (Jusco) are fairly new too, though all have already been worn to "well-loved" :)

I have the next big thing in fashion. As you may or may not know, hoods are very big this season, and a while back I spotted a gorgeous hooded scarf on Forever21.co.jp

Alas, it was gone before I could click on the buy button. I sent off an email to the company but it seems it wont come back in.

Luckily, as is often the
case with things like this,
Rakuten came to my rescue and I was able to get my hands on this cute scarf instead.

It was a little expensive at 4000 yen, but it's quite thick and very long, and has two cute clips; one bow and one bobble thing that looks like I have testicles dangling from my neck. But the best thing is of course the hood.

So, if you're going to make a scarf-tastic purchase this yuletide, hooded ones are another cute option to consider!

I discovered an amazing thrift shop in Tenjin over the weekend - actually that's a filthy lie, my friend discovered it and showed me the secret passageway through Uniqlo. Said thrift shop is a PROPER thrift shop - racks and racks of tacky garbage with gigantic sequined sea life, basset hounds and ponies glued to it at reasonably Goodwill-esque prices. ¥500, ¥300, winter coats for ¥1000, stuff like that. The array of Patsy Cline vintage-y shirtdresses was mind-boggling and the stuff dreams are made of. Sadly I am on a tight budget until payday so all I bought was this red cardigan.

The Igirisu is Back

Since I've been back at ITIL for a little while now, I thought it's about time to resume duties here at Oshare. We have a lot of new people here right now, aspiring to be wonderful and oshare just like us, so it's only right that we help guide our younger sisters (and brothers...) along.

Now enough of that.

A little while back I bought a hairband with big flowers on it. Since one of my style icons is Blair Waldorf, I wanted to get into this whole hairband thing. But the thing is, here in Middle of Nowhere市BFI町, if you go about with something stuck on your head, you feel like a prick. Except, of course, for those stupid rabbit ear things that were here like the plague in the summer.

So, although I knew my hairband was gorgeous in every way, it's been sat in my drawer for months, looking sadly up at me every time I go by.

That was until this weekend. I was to go to karaoke with a few friends, and I wanted to have pretty hair just for once. Out came the hairband, and ... it didn't look strange.

In Igirisu-style make up news...

One of the thinks I like best about Japan is all the make-up. Of course, there is lots of different make up in other countries too. But Japanese drug stores always have the kind of "and everything else" section in its make-up aisles. For all the bits that aren't owned by big companies. I love these little bits. I use a face powder called "Clear Last" which smells sweet and also lasts a long time. Also from that section is my new "extension-like" mascara. I've tried with all the expensive brands and all the stuff with the white mascara with the black on top. It just makes my eyelashes all clumpy. That was until I found "Fiber Extension" mascara. It doesn't thicken my eyelashes at all, but they become super long.

Perhaps my favourite find from the "and everything else" makeup section is the sparkly green eyeliner. I once went out clubbing with my good friend and make-up expert Kawaii Candie and as we were doing our make up, she saw me whip it out and nearly shouted at me for even suggesting to wear such bold make up. However, it can be done right. I dab a tiny bit into the outer corners of my eyes, and it really makes the blue of my eyes brighter. The second photo was taken seconds after the first so you can see that from far away it doesn't show much at all. Just gives you that extra sparkle.

Perhaps there are other members out there who are fans of the "and everything else" make-up section?!

Hi everyone! Long time no post.

I'm officially in Japan now and am officially buying Japanese clothes. Cheap cheap Japanese clothes!

Today was a fairly warm day and I had to bike out in crazy winds, so I pulled my hair back and decided to try to finally wear the pinky girly wannabe lumberjack shirt I bought at Uniqlo a million months ago. I kind of like wearing patterns and colors that aren't suited for the season I'm in. (Clearly I'm highly rebellious with my pink pink pink clothes in the fall.)

Do any of you guys dress with a particular season in mind? You know, pastels/florals in the spring, bright colors in the summer, etc?

So, yeah. I never really dress up or have a really good sense of fashion in all honesty, but tonight I'm going out and this was the outfit I concocted. It'd be all black if I didn't add at least that belt that reminds me of home in Texas and the necklace that kinda pops it out as well.

Those "tights" are actually the heat tech stuff from Uniqlo. I'm hoping they do me justice since I'll be riding my bike to my destination. I'll see how this goes.

I am in love with my new boots though. These things would cost me a ton more in Austin than here. Thank god for Japanese women's obsession with shoes. Sometimes, it actually brings down the cost.

I am quite liking red this season as red seem to be making a big come back this year especially when it is teamed with camel.

Here I have red with navy, which is one of my favourite colours.

As I didn't go out shoeless, I wore a pair of black chunky heeled oxford shoes.
Once again, the red bag with badass studs along the bottom:

Both sides of the bag look the same so I really need to add some accessories to the bag. Maybe some furballs? or tie a scarf around it.

I have decided that I like them as they keep my legs warm, can fit into snow boots easily and I can keep wearing dresses over layers :)

Hi everyone! I have a toooon of stuff to share so I'll try to be concise. I'm trying to figure out some work clothes (and more specifically, suit stuff to wear for the JET Tokyo Orientation) so any insight would be appreciated! Also, sorry for the weird cluttered awkwardly-posed photos! It's hard to take pictures of yourself, idk.

Here's suit number one. I prefer it unbuttoned:

My worry with this suit is that the skirt is too short. Is it? Will I get in trouble? :( I feel like anything I find in my size is super short -- be it pants or a skirt. Apparently petite people usually have short legs!

My second suit option I can't even show fully because the pants are currently at the tailors! I only have my ~Daisy Fuentes~ too-tight trousers to wear with the jacket currently:

So, I went out and bought some more work clothes which have to be "nice" blouses and things of that nature. I'm kind of out my element when it comes to clothing in this dept. So, my stuff may be kind of yawn inducing. I bought some $9.50 shoes to go out in yesterday that I thought were a steal. I'm not exactly a fashionista, so if they are ugly, please say so that I don't go out and have everyone point and laugh at my ugly shoes.

Shoes:

My favorite necklace is a necklace passed down to me from my great-great grandmother. It was made in about 1860 or so and is edelweiss. I love it dearly.

Those are new jeans as well from American Eagle outfitters. I had to find at least 2 new pairs of pants to accommodate my hips and butt considering that Japan does not cater to either.

Curse you girls who can wear whatever jeans you want. It takes me hundreds of pairs to find one pair that doesn't fit really funny. Especially since I'm 5'3'' and it's impossible to find normal length jeans.

I'm not good at this style thing (fashion is for girls, style is for guys), so I'll occasionally throw up something for everyone to judge harshly so I can learn more.

I'm very much a tshirt and jeans kinda person, but I'm also somewhat more 'chunky' than I probably should be to make jeans & tshirts panties-removingly sexy, so I'm attempting to resolve that and actually think about what I wear.

I can promise that the thinking won't always work - if at all.

I had to go to a large work function, so I decided I wanted a jacket, but didn't want a button up short because they make me look old. That also ruled out a tie.

Bright tshirts would look tacky, so I decided to find something in muted, darker colours. You can't really see it, but that t-shirt has a Neon Genesis Evangelion print thing on it. It's black print on a purply-grey, so it suited.

Also got some new jeans which are special because they're the first 38's I've fitted (just) in since just after high school. Amazing. Shoes were just a pair of black leather lace-ups, woo.

It's amazing the extra confidence a pair of tighter-yet-not-so-tight-that-my-keys-draw-blood jeans can give you. Or give me. Either one.

The problem I see with what I wore is that I need to get the jacket tailored. I bought it as part of a suit, back when I was at least 15kg heavier. I've also discovered that everyone should get their suit adjusted as soon as they buy it because off-the-rack almost always never fit correctly, so yeah. Interesting to note.

My name is Danica and I'll be coming to Japan in less than a month now to start working for ECC. I was with JET for a very short time period, but even then, I got a taste of the Japan life. Now I'm back for more.

This is a very typical outfit for me. Jeans and a tee. But, I know in the coming months, these clothes will be replaced with my oh-so-awesome work clothes. sigh.

On the lighter side of things, I love vintage clothing. Especially vintage dresses. Here's my favorite dress that I usually wear to formal occasions. It's a 70's sheer split sleeve dress.

I don't have any weird philosophies about what women should wear or how to wear things. I think you should wear what makes you comfortable and what you feel best fits your personality. I, for one, don't have legs to parade around in short skirts and shorts. You may be blinded by the reflection of the sun off these stumps of legs. So, you can count I'm usually in something below the knee. I'm also allergic to pastel. Anything lime green and vomit orange should be burned. I guess those are philosophies aren't they?

I haven't updated in a while, even though I took pictures of outfits I liked. :( Oh wells, I'm back! So these 2 pictures are from 2 consecutive days of school events. I decided to start wearing colors I normally don't wear.

Sorry, my mirror is really dirty. So this is my new H&M red x white striped ruffly blouse that I wore on Friday. That day was the Kansougeikai(welcome/farewell party) for our school so I dressed up in this blouse, black cardigan, black pants, and black flats. I really love this blouse! It fits really nicely and stretches under the boob-part so it's really comfortable. Got lots of compliments from teachers yay.

The day after the Kansougeikai (which was super fun) there was a field trip organized by one of the Social Studies teachers for the teachers to go explore the Fushimi area of Kyoto. A couple older teachers and some new young teachers at our school gathered for this event. The area is famous for Sakamoto Ryoma and sake. We visited some historical places (such as Terada-ya) and a couple sake breweries and spent the whole day drunk. :) So while we were waiting at the station for more teachers to arrive, the science teacher took a outfit snap of me. I was in the middle of reading a book so I didn't even notice he took it lol. Anyways, the outfit. SDL(Sexy Dynamite London) black t-shirt that says something like "Search and Destroy" on the back with skulls on the front, Peace Now black cardigan with an adjustable hem length, Uniqlo green x navy plaid skirt, trenka(?) black tights, black flats, Comme Ca sunglasses, and a $10purse I got in Korea.

Over GW here in Japan and I've been travelling around the country and shopping up a storm.

Accessories galore!!!

I do love my hairbands and own about a gazillion of them. On this GW, I have 4 new additions to my collection :)

I haven't seen Alice in Wonderland yet but I absolutely love the Alice theme from white rabbits, teapots to ticking clocks. I am in love with this new watch- It even has a mini teapot charm hanging off it <3

Because the sales have been so crazy over GW, I have also bought about six dresses!

I shouldn't have brought any clothes with me in this trip and just wear what I buy around the country!

Here are just two of what I bought:

This dress is the Liberty Shirt dress from Earth Music and Ecology. It needs a belt around the waist to give it a bit of shape, I've also worn green tights with it.

Each year about 200,000 people or so flock to Iwakuni U.S. Marine Corps Base for a day of inflated fair food prices, impressive acrobatics by Air Force pilots, and waiting in line to get their pictures taken with Marines in uniform posing in front of parked helicopters. I took it upon myself to take a smattering of stalker-esque point-and-shoot photos of people I found particularly interesting or stylish.

Never really liked wearing suits, ties, or dress-shirts - always felt uncomfortable and constricted in them, would rather wear a t-shirt and jeans, I guess. I don't know too much about clothing for business or formal wear, and people get pretty serious about that, apparently, but whatever. Here's what I wore to a wedding (real uncomfortable, my ex-girlfriend getting married, glad I dodged that bullet..), couldn't be bothered to find a tie:

Still a bit cold up here in Seattle lately. I don't even particularly like Dior other than the jeans, which are real comfortable yet still fit pretty well, but somehow have some miscellaneous Dior Homme items that I got cheap, and ended up wearing most of them yesterday. For anyone interested, Dior Homme used to be really awesome from like 2001-2007 when a dude named Hedi Slimane was designing their collections, marked by a dark "rock" look and a slim silhouette. He left after contract issues, and the collections since 2008 have been pretty mediocre. Here's one of my favorite campaign photographs, from Autumn/Winter 2003, the infamous "Napoleon" jacket:

Hi! So, I'm new -- I was shortlisted a few weeks back through Houston and am an avid follower of fashion blogs, so finding a group fashion blog for foreigners/JETs was just my luck.

Just the basics: My name is Ashley, I'm 22 years old, and I'm a sculptor/art major graduating in two weeks from a tiny liberal arts school in Texas. For clothes, I like wearing black as a base and then covering it with really colorful things (see: scarf collection). My philosophy is "show your damn legs" so I do at every turn, either with skinnies or shorts or miniskirts. It's not everyone's cup of tea but it's worked for me so far.

For today.

Black tank-top: ancient/tag-less/probably some discount bin.

Shoes: thrifted/label-less.

Hi, was recently shortlisted for a CIR position in the JET program, so I thought I might contribute. I'm not sure of my placement yet, but I'm hoping to be in Hyogo prefecture, as Kobe is the sister city of Seattle. My friend (also shortlisted for JET program) found this blog, I think through a message forum, and sent it to me, and I've following for a bit.

For the past year, I worked as a buyer, mainly for Japanese products, at a men's clothing boutique, so if you have any questions about Japanese clothes, fashion, or textiles that you can't find the answers to on uniqlo.com, feel free to ask! Don't expect too much, though, I fell into the job by accident, and fashion has nothing to do with what I studied in school, only a hobby.

My style is pretty basic (maybe boring), I like simple, well-fitting clothes - I have a relatively small wardrobe, as I value quality of quantity. My favorite keyword is "slouchy," which I guess means "relaxed" without the connotations of ill-fitting dad pants. I usually wear plain long, drapey t-shirts, pants that are loose in the top portion, but taper to the hems, clean boots or sneakers, and a jacket, but I mix things up on occasion.

Thanks for letting me be a part of this blog, and hopefully I'll have the chance to meet some of you in Japan. Sorry my pictures are terrible, not good at taking self-shots, and my camera won't even stand up by itself. Here's what I wore the past two days:

I love Spring fashion as it usually means we can wear less bulky coats, more colours and of course FLORALS!

After this never ending winter, the country seems to be going nuts for anything floral! From shirts to hats to shoes to shorts! You can find any item of clothing in florals!

While florals are really pretty, wearing them incorrectly can look grandma like.

Keeping this print to one item of clothing at a time is always the best bet =]

2 new outfits from recent outings!

First this one. I've been obsessed with shirt-dresses lately, and this is one that I bought recently. Skulls, random Engrish, I love it! I'm wearing that with ripped leggings and blue tights underneath. Also an F21 military-style jacket and engineer boots.

And next this one. I thought this gray hoodie would be long enough to be a short dress but I guess not, so I paired it up with uniqlo black pants-leggings. That thing on my head is a pleather-ish bow headband. Also wore glasses, which I haven't worn in a long time, but I love them! So I went shopping in Nagoya today and wore the following:

The jacket is from Jacob. Scarf and headband are both from Loft. Earrings are from a kiosk in Kyoto. Necklace is from a kiosk in Unimall, Nagoya.

The necklace is actually a pocket watch, which I thought was pretty cool. You can't see it clearly from the picture but it has little inlaid crystal accents.

Shinnenkai outfit w/ new dress and boots!

I went to a shinnenkai on Saturday night (non-school related) so I dressed up in new clothes! I wore fake lashes and felt very glammed/Japanese-gothed(?) out haha.

First, pictures of the new dress and boots:

The dress has this interesting cut so it's pretty flowy. Its name was actually "ghost-cut one-piece." I just fell in love after seeing it and had to buy it! The boots I just got on Friday night when I was out drinking. They look kinda gray in this photo but they're actually a dark black. The studded belt is actually removable so I can put them on other boots if I want! 3900 yen yay!

Since the outfit is plain, it gives you a good chance to go to town on the accessories and hair. Big curls, cute hat, necklace, jacket... and pink slippers. It's all good.

I have escaped Wintery Japan for the time being and headed south for home =]

So for you folks still in Winter wonderland here are some Summer dresses to freshen things up!

Here are the dresses I bought at the Boxing Day Sales <3 dress

Dress 1) Red Floral Dress <3

Dress 2 and 3) Casual Summer Tank Dress in a lace pattern and leopard print. They were a bargain at $20 for two dresses. Very comfy and casual, ideal for a lazy Summer day of catching up and ice coffee.

Dress 4) Little Black Dress with Zip. I've always wanted to try the zipper look but have found most zipper items to be uncomfortable to wear and some what trashy and provocative but this one- I love it!

The zip doesn't go all the way down so there is no fear that someone could completely unzip my dress and result in it flapping around like a coat (but I guess any sort of unzipping won't look good here either! :) I have red peep toe heels on in this picture.

This shall be my New Years Eve dress to welcome the fab year of 2010!
(unless I find something better! :P )

This is kind of a throw away post, I'm mostly just trying to find a good place in my room to set up my camera. This is an example of my average outfit. The striped shirt is one of 3 I got at Costco, and I wear them all the time because they have longer than average sleeves. <3 The skirt is one of those Uniqlo ones you can wear either as a skirt or a dress, this is my first time wearing it as a skirt. I think I lose a little fashion sense when the weather gets cold because all I care about is keeping warm...

Top and necklace were a birthday present from my friend's mom.

I am generally not "for" tit curtains but I think this top is acceptable belted, as it goes off the shoulder and contains copious amounts of black lace. I love the necklace too - jewelry is one of those things I never treat myself to, so I'm always happy to receive it as a gift.

I bought ANOTHER new coat recently and I'm in luuuuuurve with it!

I've always wanted a short paddington coat (just like Paddington bear!). As I've mentioned previously, I tend to stay away from too much black and recently I've been loving anything thats navy to replace black basics. I've been raving about it nonstop on itil <333333
I think it goes with almost everything I own for work. Its quite thin so it needs a lot of layering as it gets colder.

Here is the ugly chunky knit dress I always wear and complain about (But I can't seem to stop wearing??). It makes me look and feel like a short stumpy barrel while anything I wear underneath must be smoothed out or I'd look lumpy on top of stumpy.

Tights can do lovely things for your legs- they keep your legs warm while you give dresses and skirts extra fashion milage, can bring out different personalities and they can be very slimming especially when they are in dark colours.

I took a gigantic fashion leap and jumped into the deep end of white tights when I saw them for on sale for 30yen!

I listened to the fashion advice of some ITILers and I managed to put together this look:

I wore the outfit with some cream coloured flat short boots so you can't see my ugly toes! :P

I bought the beret after receiving suggestions from our very own Langus and Miss I :)

So was it a hit or a miss? Did I pull this look off okay?

I had my doubts whether this outfit would work but I got a boost of confidence when I walked out of school today with my boots and beret a group of girls screamed shrilly "KAWAIIIIIIII!!!" then some Japanese jibbrish while following me to my car then waving goodbye. :)

I've only been to one location - Parco in Kumamoto Shimotori - but everything is perfect. How to describe their stuff - maybe the perfect fusion of ギャル　and "badass."

I'm mainly a big fan for the shoes/boots and consistent supply of studded leather bags.

This is my fave shop. It's quite a large second hand shop that has some really awesome items. The thing that surprised me most was that their designer goods are reasonably priced (shame I'm not into them though).

None of these are on theme but anyways~

On the left: I dressed up the other day to go out and wore my new boots! I'm wearing a shirt that was from some cheap gyaru shop in Namba, pinstriped shorts, tights, and my new engineer boots. The boots were on sale for 3000 yen and they aren't too cheap-looking like the other ones I've seen. The shop had LL size and although L size fit, LL was more comfortable and the shop lady gave me some insoles to make them fit better. :D

I feel weird bringing back up the thread, so I'm posting the boots here. Zara, these are the Demonia boots. They're size 24.5 but they fit my feet, which made me happy. They're pretty comfortable because they're wide and have a platform thing. The studded straps snap together on both sides.

Don't have any "trolling for ass on the weekend" outfits now, but maybe I'll try that out later if I'm not lazy.

I never really trolled for ass (I'm assuming thats American lingo for picking up?) because I've always been too lazy to go out clubbing or anything. But when I do go clubbing, the highlight of my night would probably be dressing up for it and once I'm dressed I can't be assed going out :P

When I go to pubs and stuff with girlfriends back at home I would usually wear a fitting little black dress (which I didn't bring here).

I didn't bring most of my nice dresses here as they would probably be too reveling for Japanese standards so this little number with sleaves is the only LBD I brought over with me.

A bit shapeless? Yes, but it is great for going out and eating and drinking beer and eating and drinking beer because the tummy is invisible :)

This second outfit is also a shapeless sack but I tried it with a belt! Unlike most of the contributors here, I actually prefer wearing lighter colours and tend to avoid too much black.

These boots are my new "stylish" rainboots from ABC mart. I'm kinda running out of shoes I can wear inside so don't mind it if it doesn't exactly go with the dress!

Of course I have included a photo with my fluffy rabbit scarf :)

I haven't trolled for ass in years as I've learned the value of being in a stable relationship versus playing Russian Roulette with genital herpes, but it's still fun to play dressup.

You have to cater to your targets. The first outfit is obviously catered to an audience who appreciates Doc Martens and vaguely gothy things. I'd wear that to a goth club or Wacken. The dress was purchased last winter in Amsterdam at a street market.

The second is more all-encompassing. When trolling for ass it's important not to look like someone whose pimp gets a share of the ass which is trolled. Skimpy shirt + skimpy bottom is never classy. The top is just a t-shirt from H&M and the skirt was bought at an airport somewhere.

First of all, the pressing matter of how to wear scarves that are made of baby rabbits. This is how I wore mine this week; it was really cold so I had it on tighter than I usually do, but normally I fling it about my neck with that jacket and it looks nice.

Winter defense: I have new slippers. I think they are the bee's knees.

It's a bit dark so my apologies, but this is my current fave outfit. The kids say I look pretty in it too.. It's not as flattering as it could be though.. the elastic in the top of the skirt is all twisted and I can't seem to get it straight.

I bought it in Hong Kong when I went over silver week. I got it at Giordano which is like the Uniqlo of Hong Kong and it was a charity tee for betterment of animal welfare. In this picture, I wore it over many many layers of thermals and a stripey 3/4 sleave tee to keep my cozy.

Anyway back to the scarf, some girls make a loop through and it does look like you don't have a neck but it could work in some elegant Japanese office lady fashion like with a sweater dress or something. :)

Ok so not exactly fashion but it's as good as i get at the moment and i unfortunately didn't get a shot of my going out outfit from the other night which includes some very cute leopard print heels which are now in the forgotten rucksack currently sitting in Shin-Osaka station.

However in this picture i am modelling my new YSL sweat rag ... yes, i truly do live the glamourous life, and a bargain at 1050 yen!

Ho hum ... here's the picture .... this is a very windswept and in desperate need of restraightening etc but you get the idea - reblonded and and long fringe cut in ... if anyone's in Tokyo and wants a haircut i really recommend the salon - Watanabe's in Harajuku: (I'm on the right)

Coming from Australia, we never celebrate Halloween so this is my virgin Halloween experience!
Initially I wanted to dress up as Hello Kitty slippers wearing Trashy Inaka Yumi but then I realised I would look so the part that no one would know I was in a costume.

After some careful thinking and planning this is what I came up with:

Behold! Kawyn is Wednesday Addams!

I bought the doll from the 100yen shop and drew scars all over her body and blacked out her eye to make it scarier.

The noose around her neck was very handy as she became a cool accessory I twirled and swang at people on the dancefloor. I was so trashed at the party I lost my Marie Antoinette numerous times but she always found her way back to me :)

I'm naturally pretty pale so all I needed was a bit of foundation, plenty of eye liner and a death like expression to look the part.

Too bad most Japanese people had no idea who the Addams were. Most of them thought I was an angry goth kid.

Halloween duds

It's the last day of the week before Halloween, so I figure a lot of ALTs wore spooky outfits or doofy costumes to work today. Forgive me for looking exhausted; I just got back after 10 1/2 hours.

Charcoal pinstriped suit, black shirt, orange tie to complete the Halloween motif while not looking like a faulknerian man-child. I've started wearing my suits to work because the mornings have gotten damn brisk.

Jacket off means serious business. "Is that your math homework you're doing in my class, Ryuhei?"

Ok so although it's a bit late, I'm now ready to jump on this outer-wear bandwagon.

Recently my winter case was delivered and so I have a nice collection of jackets and coats. This is my current favourite; my Peacocks (for all the Brits out there) jacket. My jumper is my nice new Uniqlo "Disney" jumper.

What's nice about this jacket is that if I want to be a bit girly...

I can wear my new scarf that feels like it's made of baby rabbits. I see the J-girls wearing stuff like this.. I'm not quite sure how to make it look good yet but I'll work out a flattering way to tie the scarf soon.
