work outfit and glasses

I finally picked up my new glasses from Jin's after work today! I forgot how nice it is to be able to see stuff, and I love the frames to bits. Eventually I want a bunch more but I think it'd be smart to start slow instead of instantly collecting like 7 pairs of glasses as accessories.

The outfit is something I would normally wear to work. I'm not gonna lie - I'll probably sleep in this tonight and get up 5 minutes before I have to leave for work in the morning. I don't mind looking "bolder" than the other teachers. I guess this is visual proof that I love the look of a vest under a jacket.

I'd also like to get into wearing neckties but I think I've been doing it wrong. How do I make a shirt and tie look more "femme at work" than "Mindless Self Indulgence?"

  1. Shirt + Tie combos do not work AT ALL for women. Avoid them like the plague unless you want to end up looking all "conforming rebel" like Avril Lavigne.

The glasses look really nice though. To hell with you and your photogeneity (I made up that word yself!).

  2. OMG, I love your outfit! And the glasses look hot <3 That is definitely something I would wear. I wish I could look "bolder" at work...but I'll just save it for the weekends. Where's this dress from? I love it!

And from looking at Japanese cute-ish punk styles, you can tie a tie into a bow and it looks feminine. Dunno if you'd like that style, but here's a couple sample pics:

And contrary to the opinion above, I think shirt + tie combos look fine...I've done it before. Maybe I did look like Avril, but who cares?

  3. I dunno Ben, waitresses and hostesses at Italian restaurants look classy as hell in shirts and ties!

  4. Hmm, I figured you weren't talking about the waitress/maid look since you were talking about casual [work] attire.
